We hold public cleanups from time to time throughout the year. Signup for our newsletter below, check our events calendar, and don't forget to follow us on Social Media to stay up to date on future D2O cleanups!

DRAINS TO OCEAN - IT TAKES A VILLAGE CLEANUP

ASSUMPTION AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RISKS AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY AGREEMENT

NOTICE:  This is a contract with legal consequences and applies to all Drains to Ocean events.  Please read carefully before signing.

In consideration of the permission granted to me to voluntarily participate in the Drains to Ocean cleanup, the undersigned (or parent or guardian, if applicable), hereby agree as follows:

Acknowledgement of Risks:  I fully recognize and acknowledge all risks associated with the cleanup including, but not limited to:  contact with sharp and/or contaminated objects; exposure to insects or animals; heat or sun related injuries or illness, including sunburn, sunstroke, or dehydration.  I fully recognize and acknowledge the danger of moving objects such as automobiles, bikes, etc. in the cleanup area.  I hereby agree not to pick up trash in the actual street and to only cleanup the sidewalk and gutters from the sidewalk without stepping into the actual street.  I have been properly instructed that all volunteers should wear hats, gloves, and sturdy shoes (not sandals, thongs, or bare feet).

Express Assumption of Risks and Responsibility; Release:  For and on behalf of myself and any minor children for whom I might be responsible, I hereby assume full responsibility for (i) any and all risks associated with the cleanup event and (ii) any and all bodily injuries, accidents, illnesses, paralyses, death, loss of personal property and expenses thereof, as a result of any accident which may occur arising from or related to the cleanup.  By signing below, volunteers hereby agree to indemnify, waive, release, and hold harmless Drains to Ocean, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation (“Drains to Ocean”), any and all event sponsors, the City of Costa Mesa, and each of their respective agents, representatives, volunteers, employees, contractors, officers, directors, shareholders and affiliates (collectively, “Releasees”) from any and all liability of any nature and for any and all injuries, damages, or losses that may occur during the cleanup.  The foregoing release explicitly includes claims of which the undersigned may not be aware on the date of signature and claims which, if known, would have materially affected the undersigned’s willingness to provide this release.

Photos/Email:  I hereby grant Drains to Ocean, and their legal representatives the absolute right and permission to copyright, use and publish images in which I may be included in whole or in part, or composite or distorted in character form, for use in published materials, illustration, promotion, art, advertising, trade, web sites and any other purpose in order to promote Drains to Ocean's programs.  I hereby waive any right that I may have to inspect or approve the finished product.

I hereby agree that I have read this Assumption and Acknowledgement of Risks and Release of Liability Agreement carefully and in full.  I understand that by signing this document, I am waiving valuable legal rights including any and all rights I may have against Releasees.  By providing my e-mail address below, I agree that Drains to Ocean may use the same to communicate about upcoming events/cleanups.

Cleanups.

Mountain Cleanups

We feel that the cause of much of beach & ocean litter comes from miles and miles away from the ocean.  We have many rivers that run from the mountains straight into the ocean. Respecting the Mountain is a new D2O Campaign where we join up with active volunteers at locations on or near the LA Mountains and hold educational cleanups. #RESPECTTHEMOUNTAIN

Street Cleanups

We encourage everyone to do a safe Street Cleanup in your own neighborhood, at least once a month. We think that the majority of trash that is on the beach, comes from litter on our city streets. It starts at our front doors. Our Street Cleanups include parks, rivers, lakes and city streets. Join up with other active volunteers and start a street cleanup today! #STREETCLEANUPS

Beach Cleanups

Beach cleanups are a fun way to volunteer your time with other active volunteers by helping to keep our beaches and ocean clean! We provide everything you need and offer community service hours if needed. We welcome all ages, schools, clubs, businesses, and other large groups at our cleanups. Click on our Calendar above to find future D2O beach cleanups. #BEACHCLEANUPS
